As I wrap up my internship at Williams Whittle, I find myself reflecting on an experience that has been both professionally enriching and personally fulfilling. Over the past few months, I’ve had the opportunity to dive deep into the world of advertising, learn from seasoned professionals, and build relationships I will cherish for years to come. Here’s a glimpse into my journey and the key takeaways from my time with this exceptional team.

During my internship at Williams Whittle, I was entrusted with editorial and publication tasks that significantly deepened my understanding of the advertising landscape. I was responsible for managing the editorial process for marketing and advertising blogs crafted by my associates. This involved meticulous revision work to ensure each piece was polished and aligned with our brand’s voice before publication. I also managed the timely posting of these blogs across various social media channels and our company website, ensuring they reached the intended audience effectively. Additionally, I leveraged my skills with Canva to create visually compelling graphics that illustrate key statistics and trends discussed in the blogs. This role not only enhanced my organizational and creative abilities but also gave me a hands-on approach to integrating visual and written content, which is crucial for engaging modern audiences.

My favorite experiences included working on the Market Outlook Report and the Big Ideas project. These tasks allowed me to tap into my creativity while deepening my understanding of MRC and BBM.  The Big Ideas and Market Outlook project profoundly impacted me; in just a few months, I learned more than I ever imagined and had the opportunity to be creative in ways that truly inspired me. I also enjoyed creating digital dashboards using DashThis and writing monthly reports; these activities helped me develop my analytical skills and gain valuable insights into our projects.

I was fortunate to have Lauren as my mentor; she truly exceeded my expectations. Her insightful advice and innovative ideas were invaluable, and she was always there to support me whenever I faced challenges. Having someone so knowledgeable and encouraging made a significant difference in my internship experience, and I am grateful for her guidance.

I attribute my success during my internship to the exceptional support I received from President Kelly Callahan-Poe and Account Manager Lauren Meadows. I loved having female role models to emulate in this industry.  Kelly had a profound impact on my growth. Her leadership style is not only inspiring but also incredibly approachable, which made me feel valued and confident in sharing my ideas. She consistently encouraged me to think outside the box and provided constructive feedback that helped me refine my skills. Kelly’s passion for the industry and her dedication to nurturing talent are truly admirable, and I feel lucky to have learned from her firsthand. Additionally, the entire team at Williams Whittle contributed to my growth and learning. Their collaborative environment and willingness to share knowledge allowed me to develop my skills and gain valuable insights. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to learn from such talented professionals.

I leave Williams Whittle with a much greater knowledge and understanding of the Marketing and Advertising world.  I cannot thank you all enough for this unforgettable experience.  The future is so very bright for Williams Whittle as they certainly excel at delivering “ideas that generate change for nonprofits.”
